Westminster College Panel Conversation
The panel discussion, titled "Executive Perspective on Diversity," focused on advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in economic structures. Key discussion points included panelists sharing their strongest leadership skills (such as genuine curiosity, compassion, and listening) and how those skills advance DEI. Specific topics addressed barriers to economic opportunity for underrepresented populations in Utah, including minority-owned and women-owned businesses, citing issues like access to capital (e.g., PPP loan disparities) and trust barriers. The panelists motivated their advocacy through personal experiences, such as raising diverse children, acknowledging historical work by ancestors, and direct international and local exposure to different cultures and rural communities.
