The main objective is to establish a calendar that better meets local needs, potentially allowing an earlier start date. This flexibility is intended to increase instructional days before state assessments, provide periodic planning time for staff, and facilitate earlier summer school and interventions for students.

The Sharyland ISD Education Foundation's strategic direction focuses on generating and allocating resources to support the Sharyland ISD's goals and commitment to educational excellence. This is achieved by fostering staff innovation, motivating students, acknowledging achievements, strengthening partnerships, and enhancing community awareness, with a vision of being 'Partners in Excellence.' The strategic plan outlines the operational framework through various working committees responsible for grant and scholarship reviews, fundraising, marketing, community engagement, and bylaws adherence, detailing how the foundation will implement its mission and vision for the 2025-2026 period.

This document serves as an orientation for new members of the Sharyland ISD Education Foundation, outlining its mission to generate and distribute resources for enriching education within the Sharyland Independent School District. Key strategic areas include robust fundraising efforts, active community engagement to build awareness and increase membership, and fostering internal growth to expand grants and scholarships. The Board of Trustees discussed several items including a report on the estimated costs of retrofitting school buses with three-point seat belts. The board also addressed various administrative and operational items through a consent agenda, such as the renewal of independent auditor services, an amendment to call a school trustee election, and interlocal agreements for facility use. Additionally, the board held a closed session regarding personnel matters and deliberated on legal and property issues before returning to open session to approve personnel recommendations.

The Board approved financial reports including month-end bills, tax collection, and investment reports, alongside budget amendments for the General Fund. Policy and instructional actions included supporting House Bill 3 for public school funding, adopting the 2019-2020 instructional materials allotment and TEKS certification, and approving proclamation instructional materials. Educational initiatives approved included funding the Migrant University Experience (MUSE) program. Operational and procurement decisions included awarding a financial advisor contract for 2019-2021, awarding RFP 1819-36 for E-Rate eligible services, purchasing replacement surveillance cameras, and awarding a construction contract for the high school roofing project phase II.
