The City Council meeting included a variety of presentations, including proclamations for Spectrios Institute for Low Vision Month and recognition for Team Vortex. Ongoing recycling investigations were reviewed, including efforts regarding pallet recycling, multi-family food scrap composting, and restaurant glass disposal, with a particular focus on the use of ground ceramics and glass as road underlayment and the broader importance of sand conservation.

The commission reviewed and assigned properties for inclusion in the Historic Register and initiated efforts to update property photos within the database. The group discussed the 2025 Annual Report and finalized plans to celebrate America 250, which includes the installation of commemorative flags on yard signs and the sharing of historical narratives. Additionally, the commission coordinated promotional activities for an upcoming lecture, scheduled events for Preservation Month including library workshops and banner placements, and reviewed new promotional items. Finally, the commission distributed draft by-laws and standard operating procedures for future consideration.

The board meeting agenda includes the review and approval of a written decision regarding an appeal at 366 Robinwood Lane. New business items consist of special use permit requests for 520 E. Roosevelt Road and 431, 529, and 533 Pershing Avenue, and 610 E. Roosevelt Road, as well as a PUD amendment request for 703 and 705 W. Liberty Drive.

The meeting included swearing-in ceremonies for a new lieutenant and a firefighter candidate.
