This document outlines the Alcona County Hazard Mitigation Plan, providing a framework for identifying, assessing, and mitigating various hazards within Alcona County. The plan systematically details environmental, demographic, and land use characteristics, followed by a comprehensive identification and risk assessment of natural, fire, flooding, technological, and societal hazards. It establishes community goals and objectives, and proposes specific mitigation strategies and priorities for implementation, monitoring, and integration into local planning activities, ensuring ongoing public participation.

The Alcona County Board of Commissioners held a meeting where they received the Annual Presentation Statistical Report for fiscal year 2016 from a DHHS board member. The board approved pre-authorized claims and open claims for payment. They authorized the Chairman to sign a letter of understanding with Anderson, Tackman and Company, PLC, for the 2017 audit. The Treasurer reported on foreclosure parcels with unpaid property taxes. The board also approved the Up North Prevention Proclamation, declaring April 2018 as Social Host Responsibility Month, and commissioners gave brief reports on committee meetings they attended.

The Alcona County Board of Commissioners held a meeting where they received updates on a pre-apprenticeship program by Kalitta Air and plans to repair the water filtration system on Wurtsmith Air Force base. The board discussed a proposed resolution to include a Countywide Drug Interdiction and School Safety Officer Millage Increase and allowed the EDC to sell the remaining Alcona County flags and retain any revenue from their sale.
