The taskforce reviewed and finalized edits to the committee report, including specific language changes and decisions regarding the inclusion of the drop-in center as an example of experiential learning. The group agreed on formatting improvements such as alphabetizing sections and debated the necessity of an executive summary, ultimately deciding against it. The meeting concluded with a formal vote to adopt the edited report for submission to the steering committee.
The task force discussed the necessity of focusing summaries specifically on physical and technological infrastructure, emphasizing that transitioning to a polytechnic university requires significant financial investment and resources beyond those needed for an R2 University. Key considerations included the specific technological equipment required for programs, spatial needs, and the necessity of re-evaluating housing models to accommodate graduate students conducting research, specifically regarding the inclusion of kitchens in residential units. The meeting also outlined the workflow for consolidating individual summaries into a final document within the shared team folder.
The meeting focused on the development of the Polytechnic Investment Case. Key discussion topics included the distribution of proposal feedback for New and Reimagined Programs, updates from the Steering Committee regarding report framing and content, and a review of the organization and visual presentation of program clusters. Participants also reviewed the draft report outline and established a timeline for the distribution of an electronic draft for review.
