This work session covered a range of topics including Georgia Power's power proposal for the new Bryan County Elementary School, AdvancED district accreditation (Standard 2: Governance and Leadership), illegal immigration reform legislation (HB 87 & SB 160), the FY15 draft budget timeline, capital projects budget updates, policy review and discussion, and personnel matters. Discussions also included a review of power proposals from Georgia Power and Canoochee Electric for the new elementary school, the AdvancED accreditation visit, and the implications of illegal immigration reform legislation. The board also reviewed the FY15 budget timeline, capital project budget updates, and various policies. Finally, personnel matters were addressed in an executive session.

This work session covered capital projects, McAllister Elementary School and districting, and policy discussions on school facility use and student assignment.

The board conducted interviews with multiple architectural and construction management firms for upcoming projects. Discussions included the selection process for these firms, and board members provided ratings for each. The board also addressed facility use requests, financial reports, and personnel matters.

The Bryan County Schools Balanced Scorecard 2023-2027 outlines strategic goals and measurable objectives across five key areas: Curriculum & Instruction, Student Services, Business Services, Operations & Organizational Effectiveness, and Communications and Branding. In Curriculum & Instruction, the focus is on providing a relevant and rigorous curriculum, enhancing professional learning, addressing learner variability, and expanding Career, Technical & Agriculture Education (CTAE) offerings. Student Services priorities include staff and student wellness and improving organizational efficiency. Business Services goals center on attracting, supporting, and retaining high-quality staff, and responsible financial stewardship. Operations & Organizational Effectiveness aims to improve efficiency, ensure safe facilities, improve bus rider conditions, and provide a modern digital environment. Finally, Communications and Branding focuses on improving communication effectiveness and developing a consistent brand. The plan includes action steps and performance measures for each objective, tracked across the years 2022-2027.

The board meeting included the superintendent's report, which covered 2010 Single Statewide Accountability System awards, Title I Distinguished Schools Awards, school activities, and recognition of students. Personnel matters were addressed, including retirements, resignations, and offers of employment for both certified and classified staff. The board also approved facility use requests, donations, policies on board code of ethics and board member conflict of interest, and the 2011-2012 school year calendar. Board members commented on various topics, including student achievements, community support, and school safety.
