The board held a public budget hearing regarding the proposed budget for the 2026-2027 school year. The Chief Financial Officer presented the budget, highlighting a total revenue of 8.1 million dollars based on a student count of 460. The presentation included details on restricted grants, including special education, at-risk, and title grants. It was noted that the state budget has not yet been approved and that the system has been operating with a fund balance of under 1 percent following consecutive years of deficit spending.
The Board addressed financial accountability, reviewing budget information, financial expectations, and unpaid invoices. Several actions were taken, including the approval of checks for payment, the 2025-2026 amended budget, and the 2026-2027 proposed budget. Discussions covered updates on leadership meetings, facility repairs, lease agreements, HR oversight, and the evaluation of management companies and vendors. The Board authorized the general insurance policy, renewed the food service and transportation contracts, approved a charter agreement extension, and authorized a short-term borrowing resolution. Additionally, the Board initiated the discontinuation of specific consulting services and scheduled a future special meeting.
