The Housing Authority of the City of Americus's strategic plan is dedicated to providing quality, safe, and affordable housing while fostering community well-being. Key priorities include improving assisted housing quality, achieving a high performer SEMAP rating, increasing homeownership participation, expanding the supply of affordable housing through new construction, and strengthening the Family Self-Sufficiency program by increasing participant engagement and escrow savings.

Board of Commissioners of the Housing Authority Minutes of the Regular Meeting
The meeting included discussions and actions on several key items. Acknowledgment of the passing of Ms. Cherryl Denise Furlow, a long-tenured employee, and CEO George Edge's mother, Mrs. Julia Mae Edge, was noted. The financial reports were reviewed and accepted. Board of Commissioners of the Housing Authority Regular Meeting
The Board discussed real estate matters, including potential purchases of properties at 137 W. Lester and 143 W. Lester Street. The FY 2022 Audit Report, which had no findings, was presented and approved. The FY 2024 Annual Agency Plan HCV-Only was also presented and approved with minor corrections. Revisions to the Housing Choice Voucher Utility Allowances, effective July 1, 2023, were approved, as well as a proposed FY 2024 COLA (Cost of Living Adjustment). An update was provided on the June 2023 Summer Reading Program and the Carter Unit renovations.
