The meeting commenced with the setting of the agenda, which was unanimously approved. Key discussions covered new business, school restructuring, and the consent agenda, which included the approval of the November FY26 Financial Report and various personnel reports (Classified and Certified). Board members offered comments; one member congratulated the Chair. The Superintendent shared recognition received on behalf of the Board for genuine partnerships with local organizations, including The Links Inc. and the AKAS chapter.

The Douglas County Board of Education meeting included a RAMP presentation, a COVID-19 and school reopening update, discussion and action items, approval for the Career, Technical, Agricultural Education (CTAE) Consolidated Application for FY2021, a public hearing on the FY20/21 Budget, approval of Spending Resolution for August, approval of 2020/21 System Software Costs, approval of resolution declaring election results of June 9, 2020, approval to purchase internet hotspots, approval of School Nutrition Surplus Items, approval of LEXIA Learning Systems LLC Software Renewal, approval of contract amendment for the DCSS SWSS, approval to purchase temperature scanning kiosks, approval of the revised 2020-2021 calendar, and approval of certified and classified personnel.

The Douglas County Board of Education held a regular session where they approved the purchase of property located at the current GreyStone Power property on Veterans Memorial Highway. They also approved the purchase of the Antomage Lab for Lithia Springs High School and the surplus of school nutrition property. Additionally, the June 2020 Financial Report was approved. An update on the Douglas County High School Sports Complex was provided as information only.

The Douglas County Board of Education convened for a Tax Millage Rate Public Hearing and Special Called Board Meeting to discuss and set the tax millage rate. The staff recommended a tax millage rate of 19.6 mills and a bond at 1.0 mills. The board approved the millage rate at 19.6 mills and the bond at 1.0 mills as presented.

The Douglas County Board of Education convened to discuss various topics, including an update on law enforcement from Chief Tracey Whaley and an update on the first day of face-to-face learning. The agenda included discussion of student achievement, leadership, special education contracts, finance, operations (including the purchase of PPE supplies and surplus items), technology, school nutrition, student services (specifically the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant), general administration, personnel and policy matters, and a radio system user license agreement for the police department.
