The meeting included recognition of students for high scores on standardized tests and a review of district performance rankings. The Superintendent provided a financial report and an update on school safety and traffic safety initiatives. The Board discussed policies regarding parent engagement, promotional materials, community use of school facilities, non-discrimination, equal employment opportunity, staff recruitment and hiring, religious instruction release time, nonresident students, and intra-district transfers. Additionally, the Board reviewed personnel ratifications and a budget amendment to adjust the salary scale for certified employees to ensure they are compensated at the correct pay level.

The board discussed a variety of administrative and policy matters. Key topics included a superintendent evaluation, a contractual matter, maintenance and construction updates for Abbeville High School, and the capital projects process. The board reviewed and took action on several policies, including those related to board self-evaluation, staff rights and conduct, hiring practices, and student admission. Financial updates were provided, alongside action items for the sale of a career center house and approval of an audit contract. Additionally, the agenda covered technology updates, organizational structure, and the certification of delegates for the 2015 Delegate Assembly.

The board discussed financial updates including revenue and expenditure statements, student attendance tracking during school closures, and results from food service and risk assessment audits. The board also addressed maintenance projects and passed a resolution in support of the 2020 Census. Additionally, personnel contracts were approved, and the board deliberated on budget planning options, specifically regarding the adoption of a continuing resolution versus starting the standard budget process. Graduation ceremony plans and end-of-year procedures for students were also reviewed.

The board meeting included a procurement presentation regarding project delivery methods and resource planning for future construction projects, leading to a decision to initiate a Request for Qualifications for architectural services. Personnel recommendations for various contract types were reviewed and approved. The board also awarded a security camera system contract to WCTEL. Additionally, the final reading of the 2018-19 budget was conducted and passed, featuring discussions on teacher steps, insurance and retirement cost increases, the utilization of flex funds, and the impact on the fund balance for potential capital improvement projects.

The board convened in an executive session to discuss the Superintendent's contract. Following the executive session, the board voted to authorize the employment contract for Dr. Betty Jo Hall.
