City of Lafayette Water Efficiency And Drought Plan 2026-2032
The Lafayette Water Readiness Plan is an integrated water efficiency and drought plan designed to reduce long-term water use and safeguard health and safety during periods of water shortage. It outlines a seven-year strategy that differentiates between ongoing water-saving initiatives for non-drought conditions (Water Efficiency Times - WET) and temporary, intensified measures during droughts (Drought Response Years - DRY). The plan aims to achieve specific targets including a 2% systemwide potable water savings and a 1.7 gallons per capita per day reduction in residential water demand by 2032. It also establishes four progressive DRY stages with corresponding water savings goals ranging from 10% to over 40%, emphasizing reliable water supplies, community well-being, and environmental stewardship.
