Newberry Township Board Of Supervisors Meeting Minutes
The Board of Supervisors meeting covered several topics, including presentations from a local church and the Red Land Senior Center regarding new facilities and community engagement. Planning Commission representatives discussed two proposed ordinances for data centers and solar energy systems, for which a public hearing was scheduled. The Board addressed various operational items, such as the approval of minimum municipal obligations for police and non-uniformed pension plans, final payments for wastewater treatment plant upgrades, and the award of contracts for future plant improvements. Additionally, the Board authorized several grant applications for the Township's comprehensive plan, approved the redesign and development of the Township website, and adopted the regional emergency management agency's emergency operations plan. The Board also managed logistics for community events, including Halloween and the Harvest Moon Festival, and handled routine road program contract changes and street dedications.
The commission reviewed land development applications for two properties, specifically evaluating waiver requests concerning access drive slope and property line setbacks. The discussion highlighted concerns regarding the procedural status of the project, given ongoing appeals related to previous zoning hearing board conditions such as occupancy limits, utility facilities, and hours of operation. Members also addressed the lack of formal, written engineering and county review comments within the provided materials, noting that the procedural approach to the applications remained unclear.
