The council received a presentation regarding the Municipal Elected Officials Institute of Government Honor Roll. New business included the first reading of ordinances for the City General Fund and Enterprise Fund budgets for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, as well as an amendment to the city's code regarding boards and commissions. The council also declared a week for municipal clerks, designated May as National Tennis Month, and approved a request for mental health awareness ribbons. Committee reports were provided on city improvements, airport commission activities, and Main Street program goals. Following an executive session to discuss contractual and personnel matters, the council appointed a new member to the Municipal Planning Commission.

The meeting featured presentations from the City Manager and the County Administrator regarding various ongoing municipal and county development projects, as well as collaborative efforts between the two entities and information on the County's Comprehensive Plan.

The council discussed various resolutions, including designating Fair Housing Month, promoting civility, and recognizing Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Assault Awareness months. Approval was granted for upcoming community event requests, including a Memorial Day ceremony and a tractor parade. The council reviewed committee reports and approved funding recommendations from the Accommodations Tax Advisory Committee. Additionally, authorization was provided for a construction change order for the boardwalk system, the purchase of a new dump truck for the Water Department, and the prioritization of CDBG projects. An executive session was held to discuss legal advice, personnel matters, and a wastewater treatment expansion project.

The council convened an executive session to discuss a personnel matter regarding the search for a new Finance Director. Following the executive session, the council returned to open session and adjourned the meeting.

The council held a CDBG needs assessment hearing and received a presentation on the upcoming Bicentennial celebration. A resolution was passed to commend a former councilmember for his service. Committee reports were provided regarding city improvements, airport construction projects, and the budget development process. The City Council formally adopted strategic planning goals and initiatives for the year, focusing on downtown revitalization, infrastructure development, tourism, and intergovernmental coordination.
