The Ferndale Public Schools Regular Board Meeting included discussion on relevant and responsive staff development, aiming for 85% staff reporting PD relevance, with current status at 81%. There was also discussion on engaged and empowered students, with a goal to increase the percentage of students reporting they have an adult in school for support, with the current status at 81%. The meeting also highlighted efforts to establish clear connections for incoming students and cultural events to ensure new students feel welcomed.

The meeting included presentations from high school representatives. Topics included civil rights, slavery, and speeches by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The annual spring parent-teacher conferences were held, and eighth-grade parent night provided information on transitioning to high school. The Ferndale dance team achieved first place in hip hop and other accolades. The boys varsity basketball team won the district championship. The robotics team is going to ICBC and floated up for Decca nationals. The feeder program opened with the Anna's family. The meeting also recognized students and staff for excellence, including Kieren, Keisha Reese, and Maurice.

There was a discussion regarding the approval of the revised Ferndale Public Schools Board of Education operating procedures. The board also discussed and approved the ask me enrollment bonus agreement, as well as the FBA tentative agreement for the 2018-2021 period, which includes wage openers in years two and three. Additionally, the board addressed the school bond loan fund resolution and the annual financial resolutions. The meeting also involved setting the regular board meeting dates for the 2018-2019 school year and an enrollment update.
