The Board Chairman also addressed the district's current attendance policy, indicating that it conflicts with new requirements and will be submitted to the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) for revision.
The committee reviewed financial statements, with a focus on grounds maintenance expenses and the reasoning behind project deferrals. Discussions included facilities expenditures tied to year-end school activities and the need for improved clarification on shared service agreements with the town, particularly regarding landscaping and snow removal. The committee also requested a comprehensive financial summary from the business manager and discussed strategies to manage overtime costs. Furthermore, the superintendent proposed providing a detailed breakdown of expenses related to the Chatfield-LoPresti School.
The Board recognized students and schools for recent achievements and appointed a junior student representative. Discussions included the Bungay Building Committee's plans for demolition, the potential implementation of a digital alumni preservation platform, and an overview of technology use in K-2 classrooms. The Board received reports on enrollment, special education statistics, and financial matters.
