This document provides a mid-year update on the Whittier City School District's Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) for the 2025-2026 academic year. The plan focuses on four main goals: ensuring optimal conditions for learning through maintained facilities, highly qualified staff, and access to technology and a standards-aligned curriculum; improving pupil outcomes by increasing student achievement and closing achievement gaps across all demographic groups; enhancing engagement by cultivating a positive and safe school climate with increased parent, student, and community involvement; and implementing an equity multiplier to provide supplemental, evidence-based services for virtual academy students.

The Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) for Whittier City School District focuses on several key areas: increasing student achievement for all students, particularly Hispanic/Latino, English Learners, Foster & Homeless Youth, Students with Disabilities, and Socio-economically Disadvantaged; increasing meaningful parent involvement, student and community engagement; and improving the academic achievement of students in the Virtual Learning Academy. Key strategies include providing high-quality instruction, targeted interventions, professional development, and creating a supportive and inclusive school climate. The plan aims to address the unique needs of unduplicated student groups and ensure equitable access to resources and opportunities.

The strategic plan of WCSD focuses on partnering with students, parents, and the community to ensure learning, so every student reaches their optimum potential and positively impacts a global society. It emphasizes creating a safe, nurturing, and respectful environment, fostering a shared vision through collaboration, and promoting lifelong learning and continuous growth. The plan aims to develop effective communicators, collaborators, critical thinkers, creators, and responsible citizens who are prepared to contribute to their community and the world.
