The plan aims to bolster the strength of Chandler's downtown by supporting economic success, preserving historic character, and fostering a more vibrant, walkable, and sustainable community.

The Chandler Downtown Region Area Plan details a comprehensive implementation strategy to realize the community's vision through 103 actions categorized by timeframe (short, mid, long, and ongoing). Key focus areas include regional improvements spanning infrastructure, transportation, and public spaces; housing-related initiatives to enhance affordability and development processes; and district-specific strategies targeting sustainable growth, park enhancements, improved safety, economic development, and historical preservation across the Northern, Eastern, Southern, Downtown, and San Marcos districts.

The City of Chandler's Comprehensive Housing Plan provides an update on housing needs and outlines strategies to address significant affordability challenges and an undersupply of housing units. Key pillars include the creation of 2,000 affordable and workforce housing units over the next decade, targeting households earning up to $100,000. It also focuses on integrating housing strategies into the city's General Plan, promoting diverse housing options, fostering infill development, leveraging federal programs, and supporting vulnerable populations.
