The board discussed multiple variance requests, including setbacks for a pylon sign at 4849 N Broadway, signage area increases for an establishment at 4200 Chapman Hwy, and parking and bicycle parking reductions for a reception facility at 108 W. Oklahoma Ave. Additionally, requests were reviewed for detached garage setbacks at 1503 Southgate Rd, dwelling setbacks at 2233 Cityview Ave, and driveway separation distances for a townhouse subdivision at 7708 Middlebrook Pike.

The Knoxville Speed Management Plan outlines strategies to achieve the City's Vision Zero goal of eliminating fatal and serious injury crashes by 2040, focusing on public safety, connectivity, and equitable mobility. The plan's approach includes a prioritized list of corridors for speed management, a standard operating procedure for setting speed limits, a comprehensive speed management countermeasures toolbox, and detailed plan implementation next steps, including a public awareness campaign. It aims to enhance safety by strengthening existing strategies and introducing new ones aligned with the Safe System Approach, particularly focusing on safe speeds on arterial and collector roads.

The board reviewed various petitions for zoning variances regarding building coverage, impervious surface coverage, off-street parking, setback requirements, sign height, and build-to zones. Several applications were approved based on identified hardships or existing conditions, while others were denied due to a lack of hardship or postponed pending further documentation and utility information. One application was withdrawn prior to the meeting.
