The UMKC University Libraries' strategic plan outlines its aspiration to be an exemplary public urban research library, fostering equity in critical inquiry, providing meaningful access to information, and empowering researchers and learners. It promotes the discovery, preservation, and dissemination of knowledge and creative work. The plan is structured around five key pillars: providing exceptional student learning, success, and experience; becoming a thriving discovery enterprise; transforming the community and region with impactful engagement; fostering an environment of invigorating multiculturalism, globalism, and inclusion; and developing strong and resilient people, processes, and physical infrastructure. A foundational commitment is placed on the unwavering development of its people.

The University of Missouri-Kansas City's 2018-2028 Strategic Plan aims to elevate the university's excellence in education, research, and community engagement. The updated plan maintains its strategic themes but revises goals and metrics to adapt to changing needs. It focuses on providing exceptional student learning experiences, advancing a thriving discovery enterprise, transforming the community through impactful engagement, fostering an inclusive environment, and developing resilient infrastructure. Key priorities include increasing retention and graduation rates, growing research expenditures, and strengthening partnerships to address regional workforce needs and promote economic development.

The UMKC Faculty Senate meeting included an address by UM System President Mun Choi, who discussed the university's current state, budget limitations, and the importance of improving graduation rates for Black and Hispanic students. Concerns about distrust in higher education were raised, along with updates on tuition rates and research project funding. Announcements were made by UMKC Chancellor Mauli Agrawal regarding Giving Day donations and a capital campaign, and by Provost Jennifer Lundgren about the new Dean of the School of Dentistry and the search for the Vice Provost of Student Affairs. The meeting also covered proposed changes to executive guidelines, an IFC report on international students and academic freedom, and campus elections.

The UMKC Division of Student Affairs Strategic Plan for 2025-2030 focuses on fostering a dynamic student experience through comprehensive programs, resources, and support services. Key areas of focus include facilitating student success through engagement, belonging, retention, and timely graduation. The plan also emphasizes developing strong and resilient staff, campus collaborations, processes, and physical infrastructure. Additionally, it aims to create an environment of inclusive opportunity, excellence, and wellbeing by supporting student mental health, physical well-being, and financial wellness, as well as removing barriers to education and professional development.

The meeting covered legislative updates, including federal and state legislation and executive orders affecting universities. Nominations for campus elections were discussed, including the Senate Chair-Elect, IFC Representative, and UM System Promotion and Tenure Committee positions. Reports were given on the Intercampus Faculty Cabinet, UBC/FSBC, and deans' evaluations. The use of AI in the classroom was a key discussion point, including student perspectives, faculty workshops, and different approaches to integrating AI into instruction. The meeting also addressed ADA compliance for online accessibility, procurement processes, and the higher education budget.
