The Mayville State University Strategic Plan (2023-2029) outlines key goals and objectives across four main areas: financial health, optimal learning/living/working environment, student success, and innovative programming for workforce development. Financial health initiatives focus on transparent budgeting, sustainable human resource models, and enrollment growth through retention and recruitment. Creating an optimal environment involves strengthening internal/external relationships, infrastructure improvements, and promoting positive mental well-being. Student success initiatives center on expanding academic support, improving data collection/analysis for outreach, and enhancing student life coordination. Finally, workforce development focuses on academic program development, industry partnerships, collaborations with regional public schools and articulation/transfer pathways with other colleges.
The meeting functioned as an induction ceremony for the Mayville State University Athletic and Athletic Coaches Hall of Fame. Key discussion topics included the formal recognition and honoring of several distinguished coaches and athletes, including Hank Bijou, Rick Christensen, Mark Carter, Jim New, and Tim Colsrud. The event featured personal reflections and career highlights from the inductees, who shared stories of their professional journeys, acknowledged influential mentors, and expressed gratitude to their families, colleagues, and the university.
The meeting discussed proposed changes to Senate membership terms, including term length and start dates. Updates on Staff Senate activities were provided, including spring break care packages, adopt-a-highway, the Farmer's Bowl parade, and Comet Pride Scholarships. The meeting also reviewed results from a staff survey, addressing topics such as fundraising ideas for the Comet Pride Scholarship, office space, campus aesthetics, pay, email etiquette, parking lot conditions, and preferred communication methods. Future Staff Senate event ideas were brainstormed.
