The committee discussed the proposed night sky ordinance, focusing on revisions to lighting regulations, specifically addressing terminology such as light trespassing, motion sensor duration, and the definition of nuisances related to light. The council debated the necessity of certain prohibitions on strobe lighting and spotlights, acknowledging their use in deterring wildlife and for security purposes. Additionally, there was a discussion regarding the exemption of specific businesses, such as the resort, from the ordinance, with recommendations to handle these via variance rather than naming specific entities in the law. Concerns were raised about the enforceability of these regulations and reports of another entity inappropriately enforcing village ordinances.
