Nahant Select Board and Planning Board Joint Meeting
The joint meeting focused on the historical, legal, and engineering considerations regarding sidewalk and roadway easements along Castle Road, specifically concerning the former Coast Guard housing property. Discussions addressed the validity of historical easements, the town's previous decisions to forgo certain permanent easements to facilitate property sales, and the resulting challenges in current sidewalk planning. Participants reviewed deeds, land surveys, and legal correspondence to evaluate how property lines were handled and the feasibility of restoring sidewalks within the existing roadway configuration.
