Kentucky Child Welfare System Transformation Initiative
This document outlines the Kentucky Child Welfare Transformation Initiative, aimed at reforming the state's child welfare system to achieve better outcomes for children and families. The initiative focuses on reducing the number of children in care, minimizing placement disruptions, promoting family reunification, and accelerating permanency. It involves nine work groups developing two dozen strategies to improve caseload management, enhance workforce capabilities, and shift the role of frontline staff towards social work. The ultimate goal is to create a family-focused system that prioritizes the best interests of the child, supported by collaborative efforts from all stakeholders, including foster families, biological families, caseworkers, and a foster youth advisory council.
