Pella's sustainability plan focuses on creating better homes and a better world through innovative, durable, and energy-efficient products. Key outcomes include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, reclaiming and reusing materials, sourcing ethical and sustainable materials, enhancing communities, and promoting manufacturing career paths. The plan emphasizes continuous improvement in processes, products, and community engagement to minimize environmental impact and support future generations.

The Board of Adjustment considered a special use permit application for a roof-mounted solar panel array, reviewing its harmony with city plans, effects on adjacent properties, construction and operation impact, service by public facilities, and impact on natural features. They also reviewed a minor modification request to construct an addition within the rear yard setback and a variance request to construct an accessory structure within the double frontage setbacks.

The council discussed reappointments to the airport committee and the planning and zoning commission. A public hearing was held regarding soccer complex improvements, including irrigation system replacement and erosion damage repair. The council also discussed and approved resolutions related to the Pell Indoor Recreation and Aquatic Center, Union Street improvements, and a grant submission to the Iowa Department of Transportation for airport expansion. Additionally, the council addressed bill claims and heard comments from the public regarding the Pella Community Center.

The agenda includes items such as the reappointment of members to the Building Code Board of Appeals and the Library Board of Trustees, renewal of cigarette/tobacco/nicotine/vapor permits, and a resolution approving representatives to the Central Iowa Regional Transportation Planning Alliance. Public hearings will be held regarding a budget amendment and a rezoning application. Resolutions will be considered for the Lincoln Street Reconstruction Project, a consulting services agreement, a donation and construction agreement for a mini-pitch system, an engagement agreement for bond counsel, and the issuance of local option sales and services tax revenue bonds. Ordinances related to water, sanitary sewer, and telecommunication utility rates will also be discussed.
