Southwestern Adventist University Graduation
The document records metadata related to the Southwestern Adventist University (SWAU) December Graduation ceremony. The event included an invocation/prayer, welcoming remarks from the Vice President for Student Services highlighting the graduates' journey and thanking supporters (parents, family, church members, friends), and acknowledgments of the faculty and staff. The commencement speaker, Dr. Kesha R. Norris (Vice President for Education and Superintendent of Schools for the Texas Conference of 7th Day Adventists), delivered an address focused on the university's mission of knowledge, faith, and service. Key themes of the speech revolved around graduates being the 'light of the world' (Matthew 5:14-16), using their knowledge to sharpen their 'sword,' faith to strengthen their 'shield,' and service to illuminate the path, while being prepared to face 'heat' or challenges. Graduates were charged to guard their flame, aim their light purposefully, and share their fire.
