BoardJoliet Historic Preservation Commission Meeting Minutes
The commission reviewed and approved the movement to a public hearing for the request to rescind the Local Historic District designation from the Whitney Terrace Local Historic District. The 2025 Annual Historic Preservation Plan Framework was approved, and the commission voted to table elections for the Chair and Vice Chair positions. Staff provided updates on the Joliet Area African American Historic Context Study, the completion of the Downtown Joliet National Register Historic District documentation, the status of the Comprehensive Plan, and the pending St. Joe's Church Landmark application. A discussion also took place regarding residency requirements for voting commission members.
