Broadband Advisory Council Regular Meeting
The council discussed Office of Broadband updates regarding Connect Illinois and BEAD projects, including the evaluation of previous rounds to inform policy. Significant attention was given to permitting resources such as the Starter Guide, Permitting Directory, and a GIS permit map. Digital equity initiatives, including the DECK Impact Report and Tech Reuse Network, were reviewed. Working group discussions focused on survey results regarding digital access for aging populations and infrastructure for community anchor institutions. Presentations were provided on digital literacy for older adults through the Illinois Care Connections grant and on AARP's advocacy for broadband as essential infrastructure for independent living among older adults.
