Municipal Council Public Hearing
The council held a public hearing regarding a rezoning application for a vacant property on Commercial Street. The applicant requested to rezone the property from a residential mixed density R3 zone to a residential multi-unit R4 zone to allow for the construction of a 34-unit multi-unit dwelling. Discussion centered on the differences in permitted uses between the R3 and R4 zones, specifically the number of units and height limitations. Council and public members raised concerns regarding potential traffic safety, shade and shadow impacts, building height, and privacy for neighboring properties. Staff clarified that the proposed development is consistent with the R4 zone's intent and that the rezoning is enabled under the municipal planning strategy.
