The Board of County Commissioners of Boulder County adopted a resolution terminating a previous temporary moratorium on oil and gas development, which had been in effect since 2012, and established a new temporary moratorium extending until November 18, 2016. This action was taken to allow for the formulation and public review of necessary amendments to county land use and environmental regulations. The board directed staff to analyze existing regulations and propose changes to better protect public health, safety, welfare, and the environment in light of evolving industry practices, while also defining categories of work exempted from the new moratorium.
