The commission reviewed and approved a lot width variance request for a new home construction on N. Victoria Street and a variance to expand an existing accessory structure for recreational use. An application for an accessory structure variance regarding a swimming pool at 204 Mockingtrail Lane was denied based on city engineer input regarding setback requirements. Additionally, the commission approved the appointment of Laken Winters to fill an unexpired term on the commission.

The board reviewed and approved a new application submitted by Sammie Ray for a City of Cleveland Residential Plumber and Gas Pipe Fitter License.

The commission reviewed the budget for the previous month and discussed several ongoing projects, including the installation of parking lot signage, scheduling for facility flooring, and the development of signage for the bike trail kiosk. Members addressed the placement of additional trash cans, the acquisition of hanging baskets, and upcoming event planning for Earth Day, the DSU Big Green Event, and Arbor Day. The board also discussed procedures for memorial tree donations. New business focused on nominating the Public Works Department for the Keep Mississippi Beautiful award and reviewing options for removing rose bushes in the downtown area.

The commission reviewed three variance applications for property improvements. Two applications regarding side yard setback variances for carport construction at 519 Yale Street and 504 University were approved for recommendation to the Mayor and Board. A third application for an accessory structure variance to construct a swimming pool at 204 Mockingtrail Lane was tabled pending further information from the City Engineer.

The commission reviewed and approved an application for a new awning and signage at 106 N. Sharpe Avenue. Approval was granted for travel expenses for an upcoming MDAH Boot Camp. Members received an update on the progress and cleanup of the Coca-Cola building. Additionally, an application to build a metal awning at 307 Cotton Row was denied due to the lack of a representative.
