The board discussed upcoming local events, including the June Food Truck Friday and the 4th of July Concert and Fireworks festivities featuring various performances and tributes. New business included a proposal to utilize Google Maps for a cost-free self-guided film tour as an initiative for the tourism department and a review of a paid billboard advertising campaign for downtown. Additional information was provided regarding an upcoming local market day event.

The council reviewed and discussed various items, including annexation and zoning requests for a townhome community and commercial space, ordinance amendments regarding parking regulations and surety bonds, and the city's proposed budget. Other business included approvals for vehicle surplus, engineering agreements, software purchases for police tracking, special event applications, and property deed transfers.

The commission reviewed an ordinance amendment concerning the revision of the Unified Development Code and Code of Ordinances to permit various forms of non-cash financial guarantees, such as surety bonds and irrevocable letters of credit, for performance and maintenance warranties. Additionally, the commission evaluated an annexation and zoning application for a residential townhome community and medium-density commercial space, including stipulations regarding buffer zones, automated license plate readers, and rental restrictions.

The commission reviewed multiple applications for Certificates of Appropriateness. This included a request for exterior signage at 206 Main Street, the installation of both exterior and neon signage for a restaurant at 300 West Memorial Drive, and window replacement specifications for an educational building at 25 Court House Square.

The meeting included an executive session for discussion and deliberation. New business focused on discussions regarding the new city hall project and the formal approval of resolution DDA-2026-04, which authorizes the acquisition of the property located at 100 W Griffin St.
