The Savannah City Council workshop featured a presentation by Visit Savannah, the city's destination marketing organization, regarding its operational structure, annual strategies, funding through hotel/motel tax revenue, and efforts toward social inclusion. The City Manager also provided an overview of upcoming financial agenda items, including a mid-year financial update, a comprehensive financial audit report, a single audit report for federal grants, and the upcoming millage rate setting process.

The council meeting featured a musical performance for world peace and the honoring of Huxy Scott as the official Savannah music ambassador. The council officially proclaimed July 4, 2026, as America's 250th anniversary day in the city of Savannah and discussed plans for the semiquincentennial celebration, including historical commemorations and the creation of a time capsule.

The Council conducted a work session featuring presentations on Visit Savannah, the 2025 year-end budget closeout, and a 2026 midyear financial update, while also discussing the municipal millage rate. During the regular meeting, the Council addressed various alcohol license applications, zoning and land use petitions, and ordinances related to community planning and development. Purchasing items were approved for the Police Department, capital projects, water reclamation initiatives, and numerous agreements for the Savannah Airport Commission, including contracts for infrastructure, marketing, and license renewals. Additionally, the Council authorized land transfers for affordable housing, the use of eminent domain for a multimodal connection project, and a legal settlement.

The meeting included reports on homelessness efforts, executive sessions regarding personnel and real estate, and several recognitions including proclamations for Pride Month and Juneteenth, and the recognition of youth athletes. The Council approved various alcohol licenses for hotels and restaurants, authorized construction contracts for bridge repairs and a new community center, and approved equipment purchases and service contracts. Additionally, the Council accepted a donation from the Bonaventure Historical Society, authorized the issuance of water and sewer revenue bonds, adopted a Public Art Master Plan, approved an agreement for the Herb Traub Gathering Space, and settled a legal claim.

The council conducted a workshop to review homelessness initiatives and policies implemented over the past five years. The discussion covered funding streams, including federal, capital, and operating funds, and assessed the effectiveness of programs such as street outreach, housing development, and emergency shelter services. Presenters analyzed progress made toward reducing unsheltered homelessness and active encampments, while also identifying ongoing challenges related to family housing instability, mental health, and substance use support. The session concluded with a look at future strategies to strengthen system coordination, prevention efforts, and the expansion of supportive housing.
