This document outlines a Sustainability Plan for Alhambra, driven by climate urgency, equity opportunities, and economic benefits. The plan's vision is to achieve a sustainable community by creating a healthy environment, enhancing economic vitality, fostering social equity and inclusion, building climate resilience, promoting a culture of sustainability, and leading by example. It is structured around three core themes: improving quality of life, building climate resilience, and enhancing economic sustainability, addressing sectors such as green space, energy and buildings, green economy, food, water, waste reduction, mobility, and air quality.

The Design Review Board discussed several agenda items, including the approval of exterior improvements for a residential building at 500 North Atlantic Boulevard and 321 West Grand Avenue, which involves the replacement of balcony railings and flooring. Additionally, the Board reviewed and approved the demolition of an existing residence and the new construction of a single-family dwelling at 433 South Hidalgo Avenue. The Board also addressed an application for exterior alterations and a small addition to a residence at 428 North First Street, which was approved with conditions.

The commission reviewed community art ideas and a public art proposal for 110 South Chapel Avenue. The staff report included a presentation and feedback session for the proposed 2027 Tournament of Roses float rendering, with specific design recommendations provided. Additionally, the commission received updates on the success of the Peeps and Pedals event and upcoming community events, including Arbor Day and Memorial Day.

The Planning Commission discussed the establishment of SC Healthcare College, a vocational training school specializing in cardiovascular sonography, and reviewed its compatibility with the commercial zone and local parking requirements. Additionally, the commission addressed applications for a pool and billiards hall, as well as a development project involving the demolition of existing residential units and construction of new rental housing. The commission also reviewed previous action minutes and training materials regarding housing laws.

The Alhambra City Council special meeting agenda includes a closed session to confer with legal counsel regarding an existing litigation case, Angelina Barajas Saucedo v. City of Alhambra, and a matter involving the initiation of potential litigation.
