Job Board Leaders Roundtable
The discussion featured Gerry Crispin and Ben Eubanks, focusing on the impact of Generative AI on hiring quality. The conversation referenced a dense research paper analyzing data from a freelance matching service, freelancer.com, which examined hiring outcomes before and after the widespread adoption of Large Language Models (LLMs). The initial analysis suggested that pre-LLM, efforts in customizing applications served as a valid signal for identifying better workers. However, post-LLM, the proliferation of AI-generated, high-quality-looking applications has made it increasingly difficult for hiring managers to discern true ability from noise, potentially leading to a more random selection process where lower-quality candidates are selected over higher-quality ones. The participants agreed that a new mechanism is needed to gather meaningful data from candidates.

Job Boards Connect Roundtable
The Job Boards Leaders Roundtable focused on strategies for generating additional revenue streams beyond standard job postings and resume searching, such as employer branding options. Discussion indicated that while employer branding services are valued by clients and aid in retention, they often are not successfully monetized as direct upsells, but rather are included in packages or are successful when sold to entities not actively posting jobs (e.g., for recruitment marketing/content). The group also discussed the shift towards measuring quality of applications over quantity, and the potential for revenue from candidate-facing services like resume writing and career coaching, particularly for higher-income earners or those who are new to job searching or re-entering the workforce. A 'golden apple' strategy, where unique incentives like branding or webcasts are bundled with large package purchases, was also introduced as a method to increase contract value.
