This School Improvement Plan serves as a comprehensive tool designed to address student achievement and system needs identified through a thorough assessment. The plan aims to enhance student proficiency across core academic subjects, including Writing, Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Additionally, it focuses on cultivating a positive and inclusive learning environment by providing student supports, building capacity for leadership and effective instruction, and promoting essential skills such as collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity. A key objective is also to ensure all students are exposed to career and work-based learning opportunities.

The board conducted a virtual public hearing regarding the proposed 2020-21 budget and a truth in taxation hearing. A formal presentation on the budget proposal was delivered by the finance manager.

The Board of Education meeting included various staff and personnel actions, such as the retirement of a staff member, the appointment of new teachers, and the hiring and rehiring of custodial and special education support staff. Key infrastructure and operational approvals included the replacement of an LED marquee at school facilities, the purchase of a new truck for custodial/maintenance operations, and a tentative agreement with the custodial/maintenance association. Additionally, the Board received reports on district communications and school-specific prep day events, approved preliminary financial and cafeteria reports, and conducted an executive session regarding negotiations.

The Board meeting included the administration of the oath of office to members, the election of Board officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer), and the establishment of regular meeting schedules for the year. Key actions involved approving financial institutions as depositories, establishing investment and legal publication procedures, naming a deputy secretary, and authorizing general legal counsel, benefit consultants, and financial advisors. Additionally, the Board appointed a representative and alternate for the Michigan Association of School Boards Delegate Assembly, reviewed budget amendments, and received presentations on school activities and spotlight recognitions.
