This strategic plan outlines the direction for Eastern Panhandle Preparatory Academy, a K-8 public charter school, focusing on college and career readiness through 21st-century learning, high expectations, and community engagement. Key priorities include addressing academic deficiencies in reading and mathematics, providing student support for mental and emotional health, increasing parent and community involvement, enhancing professional development for instructional practices and data analysis, and implementing positive behavior interventions. The plan utilizes a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) and a PBIS framework, emphasizing evidence-based instructional materials and data-driven decision-making.
The board meeting involved the election of a new parent board member and a comprehensive review of school operations, including student enrollment numbers, successful school events, and staffing updates regarding aides and special education personnel. The treasurer provided a financial update, noting cash on hand and budgetary adjustments based on current enrollment. Additionally, the board approved various contracts, including an occupational therapy agreement and the annual report, and addressed concerns regarding traffic flow near the school facilities.
The board conducted elections for board members and officers, including the re-election of a parent board member and the assignment of specific officer roles. The school principal provided updates on enrollment figures, school readiness events, and a nomination as an Accel Gold School with an associated incentive payment. The treasurer reported a financial surplus for the fiscal year attributed to increased enrollment and reduced expenses. Additionally, the board interviewed a prospective board member and reviewed several consent items, including the approval of various service contracts for therapy and management, as well as revisions to the student handbook.
