City Council of the City of Elizabeth City Regular Session
The Council held a regular session during which several proclamations were presented, including Parks and Recreation Month and recognitions for a local baseball team. Public hearings resulted in the approval of text amendments regarding drug treatment and rehabilitation facilities, regulations for the sale of CBD and hemp products, and the annual fee schedule. Consent agenda items included multiple property condemnations, a grant for tree management, and various administrative agreements. The Council approved financing for water and electric system projects, authorized an application to the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, and approved the installment purchase of new police radios. Discussions were held regarding updates to the personnel policy, which was subsequently tabled, as well as potential contributions to Community Day, infrastructure improvements for the MLK Boardwalk, and the establishment of a cooling station to provide relief during extreme heat events.
