North Carolina Workforce Development Initiative
The Careers Electric initiative, launched by Governor Stein and the Siemens Foundation, aims to transform North Carolina into a leading state for electrical workforce training and to address a significant shortage of electrical workers. Key focus areas include providing youth apprenticeships, enhancing community college programs through increased instructors and equipment, offering advanced training in specialized areas such as microgrids and electric vehicles, and providing comprehensive wraparound support for participants. The initiative seeks to build meaningful pathways to well-paying, sustainable careers, meet growing industry demands, and foster economic opportunity across the state through robust collaboration among business, education, and government stakeholders.
