Townage Board Of Education Special Meeting
The Board of Education held a special meeting to address the state fiscal oversight process, specifically focusing on the district's financial forecast and the requirement for a written plan to resolve projected deficits. A fiscal consultant from the Department of Education and Workforce presented on the stages of fiscal oversight, the difference between cash deficits and deficit spending, and the steps involved in developing a written plan. The Board reviewed the forecast which indicated projected deficits and discussed the necessity of enacting expenditure reductions or revenue enhancements, noting that personnel-related items are typically significant in such plans. The session included a clarification that this process was intended to prevent fiscal distress and followed a similar process undertaken by the district two years prior.
