The board meeting included several recognitions for student achievements and staff contributions. Notable recognitions included high school rocket teams, mariachi competition participants, middle and high school band performers, and student essay contest winners. Additionally, the meeting honored school nurses and recognized athletic achievements in baseball, tennis, and track, as well as accomplishments by the student council and UIL academic teams. The Board meeting included superintendent updates regarding new staff appointments and athletics programs, as well as celebrations for student accomplishments in Destination Imagination and mariachi competitions. A partnership initiative with local McDonald's to promote student literacy for grades Pre-K through third was highlighted. The Board also recognized the maintenance department for their efforts in improving district facilities and the special education department for successfully clearing TEA corrective action plans with zero non-compliance findings.
