The Council conducted a swearing-in ceremony for a new member and presented proclamations for Fair Housing Month and National Community Development Week. Economic development contributions of the Upstate Alliance were discussed. The Council addressed rezoning requests for properties at 1401 S. Fant Street and 3415 Clemson Boulevard, approving both on first reading. Additionally, the Council approved a Memorandum of Agreement between the Fire Department and the County Emergency Medical Services for advanced life support services and authorized a three-year contract renewal for IT managed services and cybersecurity with Sharp Business Systems.

The agenda includes several items for consideration, such as a perpetual easement agreement for property on South Main Street and multiple rezoning requests. New business involves adopting the budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, awarding a construction contract for downtown crosswalk repairs, and approving a contract for the rehabilitation of sewer lines.

The Annual Action Plan for Program Year 2026 outlines the allocation of federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for the City of Anderson. The plan aims to develop viable communities by providing safe, decent, and affordable housing, suitable living environments, and expanding economic opportunities, primarily for low- and moderate-income persons. It addresses priority needs identified in the 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan through key areas including Public Facilities & Infrastructure Improvements, Affordable Housing Preservation, Removal of Slum & Blight, and Effective Program Administration. While Public Services & Quality of Life Improvements remain a priority, no specific goal is set for PY 2026.

The council conducted a work session regarding the 2026-2027 budget and reviewed several items. Old business included the rezoning of 1401 South Fant Street to Neighborhood Commercial with a restrictive covenant for funeral home use, and the annexation and rezoning of 3415 Clemson Boulevard to General Commercial. New business included a referral to the Planning Commission for rezoning 1200 South Towers Street, the approval of a contract for the Main Street fiber optic project, the passage of a resolution certifying a property as an abandoned building site, and the authorization of a perpetual easement agreement for properties on South Main Street.

The council agenda covers several new business items including referrals to the Planning Commission for rezoning and annexation requests involving South Fant Street, Clemson Boulevard, and East Greenville Street. Additionally, the council considered contracts for medical care and food services at the Detention Center. A proclamation was issued to honor Hamid and KD Mohsseni for their community service.
