The meeting included a resolution recognizing Physical Fitness and Sport Month in NJ, the selection of the State Board Nominating Committee, and a presentation of proposed State Board meeting dates for 2020-2021. Reports were given by the Social Emotional Learning Committee and the Commissioner. A resolution was passed in honor of Mrs. Margit Feldman. Appointments were approved, school districts were certified, and amendments were adopted pertaining to the swimming and water safety endorsement. A resolution was adopted pertaining to the annual calendar of religious holidays for the 2020-2021 school year.

The meeting included the approval of minutes from a previous meeting, public testimony on amendments to regulations, and reports from the Superintendent of the State Operated School District of Camden Public Schools and the New Jersey Alliance for Social, Emotional and Character Development. The board also addressed the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) plan, appointments to various positions within the Department of Education, certification of school districts, reappointments to the State Special Education Advisory Council, revisions to the Unsafe School Choice Option policy, and an appointment to the State Board of Examiners. Discussion of amendments to regulations pertaining to tuition for approved private schools for students with disabilities was tabled.

A work session was not held. The meeting concluded with recognition of the passing of Mark Jeffrey Fornaro and a resolution honoring Dr. Dorothy S. Strickland for her service on the board.
