The committee reviewed numerous course proposals, established and updated guidelines for new course and program submissions, and deliberated on enrollment cap standards across college programs. Significant time was dedicated to conducting program reviews for various departments, including Sociology, Mathematics, Economics, Chemistry, and Studio Arts, which involved hosting external reviewers and discussing site visit reports. Furthermore, the committee evaluated new curricular initiatives such as 'Second Focus' and common course designations, and planned agenda items for future academic periods.
The meetings covered a wide range of academic and administrative topics, including the election of Senate leadership, updates on the Data Analytics concentration, and discussions regarding Intellectual Property policy. Key initiatives included the creation of an Artificial Intelligence committee, proposals for a programmatic 'second focus' for students, and updates to the faculty sabbatical policy. Additionally, the Senate discussed enrollment trends, faculty evaluation documents, course capacity guidelines, and financial planning updates provided by the CFO, including capital projects and budget strategies.
The committee addressed numerous student petitions regarding senior projects, moderations, distribution credits, and leaves of absence. Key agenda items included revisions to faculty evaluation documents, sabbatical planning, and campus policies concerning sign-posting, graffiti, and student disability accommodations. The committee also discussed institutional responses to the Israel/Hamas conflict, the development of new curriculum and programs, library renovations, and strategies for coordinating student and supplemental advising.
