The strategic plan for Giant City Community Consolidated District #130 aims to ensure the social, emotional, and academic success of every student by fostering an adaptive, innovative, and inclusive environment that cultivates collaboration, curiosity, resilience, and responsible citizenship. The plan is structured around four core values: Student Success and Educational Excellence, Financial Stability and Sustainability, Staff and Student Wellness and Support, and Community Engagement and Communication. Key objectives include providing a high-quality, holistic education, ensuring fiscal responsibility, maintaining a safe and supportive environment, and strengthening collaboration with families and the broader community.
A special meeting is scheduled to conduct a public hearing of the 2025-2026 Budget. The regular September 2025 meeting will conduct all regular monthly business scheduled to be considered by the Board of Education for the month of September.
The meeting included organization updates on GCSPA Trivia Night and Junior Prom preparations, as well as Booster's fundraising plans for the Sports Banquet. The board approved the amended 2024-2025 school calendar and the 2025-2026 school calendar. The Interior/Exterior Health/Life Safety Renovation Project bid was awarded to Evrard Companies. The board approved Meryn Gross as a K-4 special education teacher and approved the reduction in force of Rebecca Jarvis, Marcella Sevy, and Bonnie Hickey. The nonrenewal of Jesica Aldridge as a licensed teacher was also approved.

The board approved an increase in Baseball/Softball Umpire pay rates for the next school year. They also approved Mrs. Popov and Mrs. Dillow as after-school tutors for the 2024-2025 school year, and Mrs. Booth as the Stronger Connections Grant Facilitator. The audit report and findings for the fiscal year 2024 were adopted. The resignation of Shadrian McDaniel as assistant basketball coach was approved, and a recommendation to increase the athletic director's stipend was also approved. Additionally, the closed session minutes from September 16, 2024, were adopted.
The meeting included discussions and approvals related to a consent agenda, the October 2024 Maintenance Grant application, and a resolution for the issue and sale of health life safety bonds. The board also moved to and adjourned from a closed session. Employment approvals were granted for a new after school tutor and a paraprofessional, pending successful completion of pre-employment paperwork. Additionally, the closed session minutes from a previous meeting were adopted, and another tutor was approved.
