The board discussed and took action on several items including the approval of payroll checks, electronic payments, and financial statements. A revised policy 206 was adopted, and Empire Contractors was appointed as the construction manager for renovation and expansion projects. The board also accepted a proposal from the Boys and Girls Club for a childcare program, processed multiple staff resignations, confirmed new personnel hires, and acknowledged the retirement of long-term employees. Additionally, the board approved resolutions for personnel to attend commission meetings, reviewed the self-insurance fund report, and discussed the status of land recently purchased by the district.
The board meeting was held to review and document proceedings related to school district operations.
The meeting commenced with the election of officers due to expired terms. Key discussions included setting the schedule for future meetings, stipulating that meetings will occur on the first and third Mondays of each month, with adjustments made for federal holidays. Compensation for board members was addressed, maintaining the annual salary at $2,000, with set rates for second regular meetings and special meetings, alongside setting the business mileage reimbursement rate at 49 cents per mile for 2026. The board approved the appointment of a treasurer and deputy treasurer for 2026, retained legal counsel at the existing rate of $195 per hour, and authorized the use of signature stamps and images for financial documents. Approval was granted for advanced check writing for vouchers to secure discounts. Personnel matters involved accepting resignations from several employees and approving various employment recommendations, including new track coaches and other staff roles. The board also addressed upcoming educational travel for students to conferences. Finally, VPS Architecture was approved as the architect for the district's proposed bond project, which includes planned renovations and additions, with discussions centered on maintaining a tax rate-neutral approach by addressing facility needs as lease payments drop off.
