NJ Transit Sustainability Plan 2023
The NJ Transit Sustainability Plan aims to establish the organization as a leader in sustainable public transportation by generating actionable items and goals based on an understanding of current practices. It focuses on addressing waste, water, and energy management, building upon the 10-year Strategic Plan Goals, 5-year Capital Plan, and Energy Master Plan. Key initiatives include converting to 100 percent clean energy by 2050, enhancing system resilience to extreme climate events, and encouraging Transit-Oriented Development. The plan seeks to deliver a high-quality customer experience, power a stronger economy, and build an accountable, innovative, and inclusive organization, with the plan itself scheduled for completion and release by the end of 2023.
