The Curriculum Council met to conduct a final review and vote on proposed instructional materials across multiple subject areas including Social Studies, Health Education, English, Science, World Languages, and Career and Technical Education. Participants were provided with specific criteria for evaluating materials based on community standards, accuracy, bias, and representation. The meeting also addressed the process for completing exit tickets including intention forms and feedback forms, and distributed an intention form for members to confirm their participation for the upcoming school year.

The Board of Education meeting included the recognition of the outgoing student representative, including a proclamation honoring their service. The Board also recognized students who achieved National Merit Scholarship finalist status and those who earned medals at the Maryland Skills USA competition. Additionally, the meeting featured a report from the Student Government Association regarding recent activities and leadership transitions.

The committee discussed professional development regarding Family Life lessons, including procedures for parent notifications and teacher autonomy in lesson scheduling. They reviewed current parent notification percentages for Carroll County and evaluated potential lesson development for students with unique needs. Additionally, the committee reviewed the proposed new state health framework and timeline, and discussed potential future agenda topics, including lessons related to pornography and relationship health.

The committee reviewed feedback from schools regarding the implementation of the Family Life unit, noting positive outcomes with current staffing levels. Parent notification percentages were analyzed across elementary, middle, and high school levels, revealing stable opt-out rates and a decrease in no-response rates compared to previous years. The committee approved a social story board menstruation video for future submission to the Board of Education and discussed the potential acquisition of 3-D models for health education. Additionally, updates regarding the new state health framework were provided, and committee members were reminded of the two-year service commitment.
