The meeting focused on the proposed zoning text amendment concerning family cemeteries. Discussion topics included state laws regarding burial on private property, the Perpetual Care Cemetery Act, and potential regulatory challenges for the county. The board considered two options: one that would disallow any new family cemeteries and another that would permit them as a conditional use under specific restrictions such as setback requirements, notification of the coroner, and a zoning permit fee. Staff recommended prohibiting new family cemeteries due to enforcement difficulties.
