Town of Greenwich Planning and Zoning Commission Regular Meeting
The commission reviewed multiple applications, including the postponement of a zoning text amendment and site plan for Happy Hour Fitness LLC. A significant portion of the session focused on a subdivision application by St. Paul's Episcopal Church to divide an 8.65-acre lot into three parcels. Discussion centered on the required drainage easements, the necessity of modernized easement agreements to comply with current standards, and the request for sidewalk easements along Riverside Avenue and Indian Head Road. The commission clarified that the subdivision application must be evaluated based on its potential for development rather than the identity of the future property owner or potential land trust acquisition. The applicant was instructed to coordinate further with the Department of Public Works regarding specific easement requirements before final approval.
The committee meeting focused on the operations and programs of the Greenwich Police Department's Community Impact Section (CIS). Discussions included the roles of Community Impact Officers and School Resource Officers, domestic violence investigation and support services, juvenile services and delinquency prevention, and various community outreach programs such as the Citizens Police Academy and drug take-back initiatives. The committee also touched upon broader topics including police staffing levels, license plate readers, and social media communications. An open public forum was held where parking concerns were addressed.
