The Board discussed the 2026 preliminary year-end review, focusing on budget guidance, departmental savings, and the use of the unassigned fund balance. Various transfers were approved, including funding for police body cameras, school roof design projects, fire truck repairs, a van for senior services, and a pension contribution. The meeting also included reviews of multiple financial reports, including pension, investment, capital projects, and the self-insurance reserve fund, as well as a discussion regarding reporting requests for the Board of Education.
The committee discussed the schedule and community engagement strategy for the Phase II Regulations drafting process, including methods to increase public participation through surveys, workshops, and various communication channels. Members also reviewed specific items for Phase 2, such as inclusionary zoning requirements, design standards for middle housing and multi-family developments, Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), and potential re-zoning of Planned Employment and Planned Commerce zones to better support residential development while protecting industrial areas for tax revenue.
The meeting featured departmental reports from the Senior and Social Services departments. Discussion items included the Tufts Nutrition Study, preparations for the Volunteer Recognition Luncheon, Age Friendly Initiatives, the 250th Birthday Bash, and participation in state-wide networking connections. New business focused on the North Central Area Agency on Aging Grant Project and the management of the food pantry and volunteer coordination.
